Target Audience
The Life Long Learning and Self-Assessment activity is designed for all nuclear medicine physicians and radiologists.

Objectives
• Identification of high-risk patients before radioiodine therapy - Elderly, severe thyrotoxicosis or prolonged thyrotoxic phase and those with underlying cardiovascular or cerebrovascular disease.
• The patient should be rendered euthyroid by the use of anti-thyroid drugs for two weeks to two months before radioiodine therapy.
• A three-day withdrawal of an anti-thyroid drug is sufficient for radioiodine uptake.
