Objectives

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

1. Define the guidelines for solid Gastric Emptying Studies as published by the SNMMI.
2. Describe the proper method for radiopharmaceutical tagging for a solid meal and the basic imaging protocol.
3. Examine the concept of percentage retention and know the normal values for the 4 hr time period.
4. Discuss factors that can contribute to accelerated or delayed gastric emptying.

Target Audience

The Life Long Learning and Self-Assessment activity is designed for all nuclear medicine physicians and radiologists.
